Wine Tasting
A wine tasting at Tenuta Castelnuovo Tancredi is more than three glasses: it is an invitation to step into centuries of history, into the very landscape that shapes our wines. Guided by our team, you will explore the historic cellar and understand how this particular piece of land — its soil, its altitude, its long memory — expresses itself in the bottle.
The experience includes three wines of your choice from our selection. All wines are also available in the cellars of your villa and can be purchased directly during your stay.

The Estate
The history of this place begins around the year 1000, when a defensive tower was built on these hills — later used as a granary and garrison. By 1315, the surrounding land already showed cultivated olives and vines. In the early 1700s, the estate supported 40 hectares of vineyards, thousands of olive trees, a nursery, an oil press, and several cellars.
Known through the centuries under the names of the families who held it — Guglieschi, Borghesi, Tancredi — the estate has been in the hands of the Venturini Del Greco family since 1897. It is managed today by the fifth generation, in a continuity that looks forward without losing its roots.
Vineyards & Organic Farming
In the late 1990s, Guido Venturini Del Greco made a deliberate choice: reduce the vineyard surface and focus entirely on quality. The vines were brought to 4 hectares, planted with Sangiovese, Trebbiano and Malvasia — native to this valley — alongside Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The grapes are vinified in the historic cellar, producing DOC Orcia and IGT Toscana wines. Since February 2018, the estate’s winemaking is certified organic. The same approach guides the fields: ancient grains — Senatore Cappelli, Verna, emmer — cultivated and milled locally, within the estate’s own supply chain.
